President Biden derisively called Donald Trump “the great MAGA king” Wednesday — but supporters of the former president embraced the title.
WHAT HE SAID
“Look at my predecessor, the great MAGA king — the deficit increased every single year he was president,” Biden said in remarks at an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers conference in Chicago.
- The president, in full campaign mode ahead of the November midterm elections, went on to take shots at Trump’s supporters in the GOP, referring to the unspecified “MAGA Republicans” “petty,” mean-spirited,” “extreme” and “beyond the pale.”
- Biden also repeated his new epithet “ultra-MAGA,” which he has used to try to falsely tie most Republicans to a tax plan proposed by Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., tax plan.
Pro-Trump commentators on Twitter responded by heralding “the great MAGA king.”
- Jesse Kelly deemed the monicker “awesome,” while Auron MacIntyre described it as “incredibly based.”
- Others made memes to show their appreciation.
